Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th, 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first vice president to be female and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as also the first African American and first Asian American vice president. As a member of the Democratic Party, she has been the attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017 and was an United States senator representing California from 2011 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then, she was hired by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected as the city's district attorney. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she was a vocal advocate for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal, the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is best known for her sharp questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
